Woodshed:  I had some university studies to tend to, but it seems to be summer now so I'll close the books momentarily and get back to being the awesome blogger that I am.  This is some new wave electro space age hippy shit from 2005, of which you will admire because there's no vocalist to butcher any of it!  Oh and I'm done rating albums....  mainly because I'm lazy (yeah piss off), so if the music is good, it will be posted, no matter the degree of goodness!

WARNING:  DO NOT SEND 200lb Chimp YOUR ALBUM UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.

Woodshed:  This is the email I received:

Prince Polo
is a powerpop band based in Salt Lake City

When I (guitar, vocals) formed the band with my friends, Matt Polo (guitar, vocals), Christian Polo (bass), and Sasha Polo (drums), Christian and Sasha hadn't even learned how to play their instruments yet.

Our album "Pallies" was recorded in Matt's dorm room.

It is available for free download here:

 Thankyou,

Chris, Prince Polo

Woodshed:  3 things Chris - 1.) They still haven't learned...  never admit your short comings.  2.) Green Day is already a successful band.  Your band does nothing different than the rest.  There has to be something that you do differently, something different you bring to the table.  3.)  Some of the stuff that you have on this album is not even in tempo, I understand that it was recorded in a dorm room but  it doesn't change the fact that the instruments are not in sync or in time with one another.  It's boring, mundane, lifeless, and lacks any mature musicianship whatsoever.   GL.

Woodshed:  Swim is incredibly visual, a multi-leveled modulating planet that orbits over a colorful canvas like Pollock's paintbrush.  No rating, not sure if I fully comprehend it all yet, just make sure you listen to "Kaili" all the way through.  -----Ok, I'm back and my mind's been blown, amazing album.

Woodshed:
Simple and refreshing,  these 3 ladies from brooklyn have got what it takes to make the Woodshed cut.  Still Night, Still Light is filled with pianos and casio-laden goodness, as are most of my picks.  What I really enjoy about this album is that it doesn't try to force anything crazy on you, just fair melodies and normalcy.  A breath of fresh non-weird indie air.  Rating: 7/10

Woodshed:  More of the ultra cool chillwave genre coming at ya.  Don't know much about these guys but they are currently touring all across the globe and they only have 1,000 or so friends on myspace...  (No, I'm not using myspace as a standard now, just thought they would have had a bazillion pals).  Rating: 7.5/10

Wizard Staff:
Just got this album. I am about to put it in the ipod, so I haven't had time to write a review. I know you want it badly so here ya go. Review to follow soon.

Woodshed:  Weak sauce.  Another album that had the platform and the pull to be huge.  Fail.  Most of the songs are like 6 - 7 minutes long and redundant as piss.  There are a few decent head nodders on here but for the most part I'm turning my nose up on this album.  Sorry LCD, you and MGMT can release your redeeming albums any time now, we're waiting.  Rating: 6/10

Mr. O: I hate to disagree with you Woodshed, but I'm digging this quite a bit. The first listen through was a little slow for me, but like Sound of Silver this is an album that is going to grow and grow on me. I'm two times through the album and I think its pretty great. I love long songs so that doesn't bother me, and the beats and vocals on this are kind of hypnotic, so before I knew it it was over. Oh yeah and "Dance Yrself Clean" is my new jam. Rating: 8/10

Woodshed:  Carles from HipsterRunoff.com coined the term "chillwave" when describing this band.  And so the forces that be make it so that I too must refer to them as such.  You however, can call it whatever the fuck you want, as long as you use the term "chillwave" alright?  Chillwave.  Rating: 8/10

  3. "Tornado" – 4:15
  4. "Boy Lilikoi" – 4:30

  7. "Around Us" – 5:18
  8. "Grow till Tall" – 5:21
  9. "Hengilás" – 4:15

Wizard Staff: The Sigur Ros frontman just released this solo record. Jonsi's voice is always on the verge of taking off (insert lame metaphor about a bird in flight here). This whole album is just... so... uplifting. I am such a cynical bastard that it is hard for me to admit to liking an album that contains zero irony. Most of the time I hate "earnest" records, but "Go" puts a smile on my face every time I put it on. I especially like the song "Animal Arithmetic." The flurry of words and music take me to a happy place, far from woodsheds or destructive primates. On a recent interview, Jonsi said that he always writes the music before adding words. "Animal Arithmetic" really demonstrates that.
